Vitaxtrong Iso Pro Reviewed: Hydrolysed Isolate and What That Buys You
The brand styles it VitaXtrong 100% ISO PRO, and the pitch is that hydrolysed whey isolate is a step above ordinary isolate. Hydrolysis is real chemistry and it does something measurable. Whether that something is worth paying for is a separate question, and the evidence answers it more plainly than any seller will.

What Iso Pro Is
VitaXtrong is a United States supplement brand. Iso Pro is its hydrolysed whey protein isolate. The brand lists six flavours for it, and Vietnamese retailers stock it in 2 lb and 5 lb tubs. The brand describes it on its own product page as 27 g fast acting hydrolyzed whey isolate with only 1 g of total carbs, and calls it partially predigested.
One structural thing is worth knowing before anything else. There is no record for this brand in the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database, the United States government database that holds transcribed supplement panels. Searching it for VitaXtrong on 5 August 2026 returned zero records, while the same search for a comparison brand, Dymatize, returned 871. That is not an accusation, plenty of legitimate brands are absent. It does mean there is no independent government hosted copy of this label to check a tub against. The panel printed on the tub in your hand, plus what the Vietnamese importer declared, is the whole paper trail.
Scope note: this page is about whether the hydrolysed step is worth paying for. Whether an isolate is worth paying for over a plain concentrate is a different question with a different answer, and it is worked through in the whey isolate vs concentrate guide.
The Label, Read Closely
Two Vietnamese retailer listings transcribe the panel for two different tubs. They are not identical, and the reason they differ is instructive.

The ingredient lists explain the gap. The non chocolate tub is transcribed as hydrolyzed whey protein isolate, natural and artificial flavors, sucralose, soy lecithin. The chocolate tub adds cocoa powder and salt. Cocoa brings the fat and the calories up, salt brings the sodium up. A panel that does not match a number you read somewhere else is very often just a different flavour, not a counterfeit.
The arithmetic is internally consistent, and checking it yourself is a skill worth having. 2 lb is 907 g, and 907 divided by a 34 g scoop is 26.7, which matches the 26 servings claimed. 5 lb is 2,268 g, and 2,268 divided by 34 is 66.7, which matches 66 plus. And 27 g of protein in a 34 g scoop is 79 percent protein by weight, which is where a real flavoured isolate lands once sweetener, lecithin and flavouring are added back in. None of that proves the contents, it only proves the numbers on the tub agree with each other.
Three places the brand disagrees with itself
Lactose: zero, or under one percent
The headline block on the product page says 0 lactose. A detail paragraph on the same page says almost zero lactose, less than 1%. Under one percent of a 34 g scoop is under 0.34 g, which is very low, but it is not the same statement as zero.
Sweetener: stevia, or sucralose
The marketing copy says the flavour is enriched with the natural sweetness of stevia. Both retailer transcribed ingredient panels list sucralose, and neither lists stevia. Marketing copy and the ingredient panel are written by different people. The panel is the one that carries legal weight.
The panel image does not load
The supplement facts image the brand product page points to returned a 404 when requested on 5 August 2026, while the product photo stored alongside it loaded normally. So the brand does not currently publish a readable panel of its own for this product.
What Hydrolysis Does
Two separate processes are stacked in this product and it helps to keep them apart. Isolate means whey that has been filtered so most of the fat and lactose is removed. Hydrolysis is a later step in which enzymes cut the peptide bonds inside the protein, breaking long chains into shorter peptides and free amino acids. Partially predigested, the phrase the brand uses, is a fair plain English description of that second step.
- What follows from hydrolysis: shorter peptides clear the gut faster, so amino acids reach the blood sooner and peak higher.
- What does not follow: anything about lactose. Lactose is a sugar, not a protein, and an enzyme that cuts peptide bonds does not act on it. Any low lactose claim here comes from the isolate filtration, not the hydrolysis.
- What is never stated: how far the hydrolysis went. That is measured as a degree of hydrolysis, and no figure appears on the brand page or on either transcribed panel.
That last point matters more than it looks. Hydrolysed is not a specification, it is a description of a process. Iso Pro says partially. The eight week training trial described below used a preparation its authors called extensively hydrolyzed. Those are not the same material, and a label saying hydrolysed tells you the step happened, not how far it went.
What The Trials Found
No trial indexed in PubMed has tested VitaXtrong Iso Pro. A PubMed search for the brand name on 5 August 2026 returned zero records, while control searches on the same day returned results normally. What follows is evidence about hydrolysed dairy protein in general, with the population and the exact comparator named each time, because those are where the marketing usually goes wrong.
Speed: the part that is real
The clearest human measurement of the digestion effect used casein, not whey. Ten elderly men, mean age 64, took a 35 g bolus of intact casein or hydrolysed casein in a crossover. The appearance rate of dietary phenylalanine in the circulation was 27 percent higher after the hydrolysate, and plasma amino acids rose 25 to 50 percent more. Muscle protein synthesis was 0.054 versus 0.068 percent per hour, which did not reach statistical significance, and the authors wrote only that it tends to increase. So the digestion effect was clear and the muscle effect was not, in ten older men, using casein rather than whey.
A second human study did include whey. Ten subjects were split so that only five took whey and its hydrolysate and five took soy and its hydrolysate. Hydrolysates were absorbed more rapidly as plasma amino acids than the non hydrolysed proteins, and the whey hydrolysates produced significantly greater insulin release than the other proteins tested. Five people per protein is a pilot, not a settled result.
Outcomes: the head to head
This is the study that answers the question buyers actually have. 56 resistance trained men, mean age 21, trained four times a week for eight weeks and were randomised to one of four blinded treatments taken twice daily at 30 g per serving: a carbohydrate placebo, 80 percent whey concentrate, a high lactoferrin whey concentrate, or an extensively hydrolysed whey concentrate.
- Skeletal muscle mass rose in every group, including the placebo group, which was also training.
- Strength gains were statistically indistinguishable between groups: upper body 4 to 7 percent with an interaction p of 0.73, lower body 24 to 35 percent with an interaction p of 0.85.
- The hydrolysate arm lost fat mass, down 6 percent, and that difference was significant against the carbohydrate placebo at plus 4.4 percent. It was not shown to beat the other whey forms on fat mass.
- The authors concluded the hydrolysate may augment fat loss but did not provide any other advantages alongside resistance training.
Two caveats stay attached to that trial. It used hydrolysed whey concentrate, not hydrolysed whey isolate, so it is close to Iso Pro but not the same material. And several of its authors held supplement industry affiliations, which is disclosed in the paper and is worth weighing.
Recovery: mixed, and the groups are small

The number with the most people behind it
A 2018 systematic review and meta analysis pooled 49 randomised trials covering 1,863 healthy adults doing resistance training for at least six weeks. Protein supplementation raised one repetition maximum by 2.49 kg on average, with a 95 percent confidence interval of 0.64 to 4.33 kg, and fat free mass by 0.30 kg, interval 0.09 to 0.52 kg. Beyond a total protein intake of roughly 1.62 g per kg of bodyweight per day, more protein produced no further fat free mass gain. That analysis compared protein supplementation against control conditions, it did not rank whey forms against each other. Its senior author disclosed research support from a dairy industry body, which the paper states.
The Claims, Checked
Taken directly from the brand product page, and checked against the panel, the literature, and one published laboratory report. An ingredient list is not a laboratory assay, so where a check rests on the panel alone it says so.

One safety point that labels handle badly. Partially hydrolysed is not the same as hypoallergenic. A 2026 laboratory study prepared both partially and extensively hydrolysed whey peptides and measured the allergenicity of the two main whey allergens falling by 90.73 percent for alpha lactalbumin and 70.48 percent for beta lactoglobulin, with no cytotoxicity in cultured Caco-2 intestinal cells. Those were measurements in a laboratory and in cell culture, not in people eating a finished tub. Anyone with a diagnosed cow milk protein allergy should take that question to a doctor rather than to a marketing page.
Real vs Fake in Vietnam
Imported protein is a counterfeiting target everywhere it is expensive, and Vietnam is no exception. These are the checks that are actually verifiable at a counter, in rough order of how hard they are to fake.
- 1The Vietnamese secondary label. Decree 43/2017/ND-CP, as amended by Decree 111/2021/ND-CP, requires imported goods circulating in Vietnam to carry a Vietnamese nhan phu that translates the mandatory content and names the organisation responsible for the goods and the origin, while leaving the original label intact. A tub with no Vietnamese label at all did not come through the formal import channel.
- 2The importer named on it. As of August 2026, Vietnamese trade listings and a retailer product page both name Cong Ty TNHH MB Nutrition as the importer and distributor for this brand in Vietnam. A secondary label naming somebody else is a reasonable thing to ask about. Distribution rights do change, so treat this as a prompt for a question, not a verdict.
- 3The anti counterfeit stamp. Vietnamese supplement importers commonly apply a stamp carrying a scratch off security code and an SMS syntax for verifying it. Scratch it and actually send the message. A stamp that nobody checks is only a sticker. No brand specific code syntax for VitaXtrong could be verified for this page, so confirm the procedure with the shop.
- 4The arithmetic. Net weight divided by the stated scoop weight should equal the stated servings count. Protein per scoop divided by scoop weight should land near 79 percent for this product. Numbers that do not reconcile are worth raising before you pay.
- 5Flavour differences are not evidence of a fake. Chocolate carries cocoa powder and salt, so its sodium, fat and calories are legitimately higher than a plain flavour. A panel that does not match a photo you saw online is very often a different flavour or a different tub size.
- 6Where you bought it outranks everything above. A stamp can be copied and a panel can be printed. A named importer, a physical shop and a receipt cannot be reconstructed after the fact.
None of these checks tell you what is inside the powder. Only a laboratory assay does that. One is published, an ALS Laboratory Group (Thailand) amino acid profile reported in December 2017 that a Vietnamese retailer hosts, but it covers a single lot of one flavour from nearly nine years ago and only its first page of two is public, so it says nothing about the tub in front of you. What the checks do tell you is whether the tub travelled through a channel that someone is accountable for, which is the part a buyer can actually influence.
On the heavy metals question that comes up whenever protein powder is discussed: a 2020 risk assessment took the arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead concentrations that earlier analyses had reported in protein powders sold in the United States and modelled them against United States EPA reference doses. It concluded that typical intakes did not reach a hazard index of 1, with the highest values in mass gain type powders and the lowest in whey powders. That covers products tested in the United States market and says nothing directly about a tub bought in Vietnam, and it tested no VitaXtrong product.

It must name the organisation responsible for the goods and the origin. As of August 2026 Vietnamese trade listings name MB Nutrition as the importer for this brand.
