Tesamorelin Ipamorelin Blend: Research on Each Peptide
A tesamorelin ipamorelin blend is one vial that holds two growth hormone peptides, tesamorelin and ipamorelin, also searched for as "tesa/ipa." No human study has tested the blend: the research is on each peptide alone, led by the Egrifta SV label trials for tesamorelin and a 2014 bowel surgery trial in which ipamorelin did not beat placebo. Tesamorelin is FDA approved for one use. Ipamorelin is not approved.

No human dosing data exists for the blend. Any blend dose, ratio or timing you see online is not from a published study.
What Is the Tesamorelin Ipamorelin Blend?
The tesamorelin ipamorelin blend is one product with two peptides that both act on growth hormone. People also search for it as "tesa/ipa" or "tesa ipa."
Only one of the two parts is an approved drug. Tesamorelin is approved as Egrifta SV. Ipamorelin has no FDA approval. So a blend is not an approved medicine, and no label covers it. See the tesamorelin profile.

Why Are Tesamorelin and Ipamorelin Paired?
No source we found explains why sellers pair tesamorelin and ipamorelin, and no study has tested whether pairing adds anything. What the sources do show is that each one is described as acting on growth hormone in a different way.
| Question | Tesamorelin | Ipamorelin |
|---|---|---|
| What it copies | Growth hormone-releasing factor, a brain signal | Described as a ghrelin mimetic |
| What the source says it does | Raises growth hormone, then IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 | Described as a growth hormone releasing peptide |
| FDA status | Approved as Egrifta SV for one use | Not approved; on the FDA category 2 list |
The Egrifta SV label says the brain signal tesamorelin copies tells the pituitary gland to release growth hormone in pulses. A 2026 review in Frontiers in Endocrinology looked at a similar pairing, ipamorelin with CJC-1295. It says that habit is mostly driven by anecdote. It adds that controlled proof of a combined boost in healthy people is limited.

What Research Exists on the Blend and Each Part?
We found human research on each of the two parts, and none on the blend. The table lists each source and its main finding.
| Study | Compound | Who was studied | What it found |
|---|---|---|---|
| Egrifta SV label trials (FDA label) | Tesamorelin | Adults with HIV lipodystrophy | Trunk fat fell by 1.0 kg in Study 1 and 0.8 kg in Study 2 at week 26 |
| Meta-analysis of 4 randomized trials (2026) | Tesamorelin 2 mg | 909 patients with HIV lipodystrophy | Visceral fat fell significantly |
| Volunteer study (1999) | Ipamorelin by infusion | Healthy volunteers | Half-life of about 2 hours |
| Bowel surgery trial (2014) | Ipamorelin | Patients after bowel surgery | Well tolerated; no difference from placebo |
| Any study of the blend | Tesamorelin plus ipamorelin | None found | No trial, label or registry entry |

What Does Tesamorelin Research Show?
Tesamorelin research shows it cuts deep belly fat in adults with HIV lipodystrophy. A 2026 review in Frontiers in Endocrinology put it in its top evidence tier.
The Egrifta SV label says tesamorelin raises growth hormone, then IGF-1 and IGFBP-3. Its trials measured the change in visceral fat, a deep belly fat, at week 26. The label reports that trunk fat fell by 1.0 kg in Study 1 and 0.8 kg in Study 2. A 2026 meta-analysis pooled four randomized trials with 909 patients. That meta-analysis found tesamorelin 2 mg cut visceral fat significantly.
The Egrifta SV FDA label lists this dose for its approved use:
1.4 mg (0.35 mL of the mixed solution), injected under the skin once daily.

The Egrifta WR label says Egrifta WR and Egrifta SV are not substitutable.

What Does Ipamorelin Research Show?
Ipamorelin research in people is thin: a 1999 volunteer study and one small 2014 trial in bowel surgery patients.
In the 1999 volunteer study, ipamorelin was given by infusion. That study reports a short half-life of about 2 hours. In the 2014 surgery trial, ipamorelin was well tolerated. But that trial found no real difference from placebo on its main or other results.
The 2014 bowel surgery trial of ipamorelin reports this dose:
0.03 mg/kg twice daily for up to 7 days.
Disclaimer: this is a trial dose in hospital patients after surgery, not a body composition dose and not a recommendation. Dose decisions belong with a licensed clinician.
The FDA lists ipamorelin acetate among bulk substances that may carry serious safety risks. It says compounded ipamorelin may cause immune reactions for some routes, due to clumping or impurities. See the ipamorelin profile.

How Is a Tesamorelin Ipamorelin Vial Mixed?
No official source gives mixing steps for a blend vial. The only official mixing steps we found are for Egrifta SV, the approved tesamorelin.
The Egrifta SV label says to mix one vial of powder with 0.5 mL of diluent. That gives 2 mg per 0.5 mL. The math behind it is simple: strength equals the amount of powder divided by the amount of liquid. Adding more liquid makes each unit weaker. It does not change how much drug is in the vial.
A blend vial holds two peptides, so each one has its own strength after mixing. To see that math, use the tesamorelin calculator and the ipamorelin calculator. They show math only, not a dose.

Does Tesamorelin Cause Weight Loss, and How Long Does It Take?
No. The Egrifta SV label says tesamorelin is not for weight loss, because it has a weight neutral effect.
Its trials targeted belly fat, not body weight, and measured their main result at week 26. The label gives a once daily dose. No source covers timing or speed for the blend, and none names a best time of day.

What Are the Side Effects of Tesamorelin and Ipamorelin?
The Egrifta SV label lists joint pain and injection site redness among tesamorelin's most common side effects. No safety data exists for the blend.
The label lists these as most common, each in more than 5% of patients: joint pain, redness and itching at the injection site, pain in the arms or legs, swelling, and muscle pain.
The same label reports that after 26 weeks, 47% of patients had IGF-1 levels above 2 standard deviation scores, and 36% were above 3. It says patients with active cancer should not be treated with it. For ipamorelin, the 2014 trial found it well tolerated, and the FDA notes immune reaction risk with compounded versions.

Tesamorelin vs CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin: How Do They Compare?
Tesamorelin has an FDA label and randomized trials, while the CJC-1295 and ipamorelin stack rests mostly on anecdote, according to the 2026 Frontiers in Endocrinology review. For what is known about that stack, see our CJC-1295 and ipamorelin page.
