Dentist Hoi An: Dental Clinics for Australians
Dentist Hoi An is the search, but the official lists we checked name hospitals, not dental clinics, in Hoi An. The Australian Consulate-General list of July 2026 names two: Saigon Hoi An General Hospital and Hoi An Medical Center. Since a 2025 merger, Hoi An sits inside the new city of Da Nang. So the Da Nang Department of Health is the body that now handles practice registration for Hoi An facilities. But we found no public page to look up one Hoi An dental clinic by name. This page shows how to check a licence there, and what to sort out before any treatment. It names no dental clinic.
Short answer
- Is there an official list of dentists in Hoi An?
- We found none. The Australian list of July 2026 has two Hoi An entries, and both are hospitals. DFAT says it does not endorse any of the services on that list.
- Who licenses a clinic in Hoi An now?
- The Da Nang Department of Health, as best we can tell. A 2025 National Assembly resolution joined Quang Nam province, where Hoi An was, with Da Nang city. The department's 2026 notices now name Hoi An facilities. We found no source that names it as the dental licensing authority in so many words.
- What should I sort out first?
- Three things: the clinic's operating licence, an itemised plan and price in writing, and who will interpret. Vietnam's law says care is given in Vietnamese unless an exception applies.

Is there a dentist in Hoi An on an official list?
No dental clinic in Hoi An appears on the official lists we checked. The Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City publishes a contact list of hospitals in Vietnam. The July 2026 version has two Hoi An entries.
- Saigon Hoi An General Hospital, 6 Phan Dinh Phung Street. The list gives its languages as English and Vietnamese, and its type as a provincial hospital with a 24 hour emergency service.
- Hoi An Medical Center, 04 Tran Hung Dao. The list gives its language as Vietnamese only, its type as a provincial hospital, and a hotline of 1900 9095.
A place on this list is not a seal of approval. DFAT says it does not endorse any of the medical services on the list. It also says it gives no guarantee that the list is current. These are hospitals, so they are not a dental shortlist either. For more on them, see our guide to hospitals in Hoi An.
So the answer to "dentist Hoi An" is not a name. It is a way to check any clinic you find yourself. The rest of this page gives that check.

Which health department covers Hoi An after the 2025 merger?
The Da Nang Department of Health covers Hoi An now. In 2025, Vietnam's National Assembly passed a resolution on provincial units. It arranged the whole of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province into one new city, named Da Nang. Hoi An had been part of Quang Nam.
The department's records already show the change. Its practice registration notice of 6 October 2026 names Saigon Hoi An General Hospital. Another notice on its site names the Hoi An Regional Medical Center. Both are facilities in Hoi An, listed by the Da Nang department.
Old addresses have not all caught up. The Australian list of July 2026 still prints "Quang Nam" in the address of Saigon Hoi An General Hospital. On the same list, Hoi An Medical Center is at "Ward Hoi An, Da Nang". When you search for a clinic, try both province names.

The Hoi An records, side by side
Five official records explain how Hoi An facilities sit in the system today, and none of them names a dental clinic in Hoi An. The table puts them in order, with what each one is good for.
| Record | What it shows | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| National Assembly resolution, published June 2025 | Da Nang city and Quang Nam province were arranged into one new city, named Da Nang. Hoi An was in Quang Nam. | On our reading, points you to the health department for Hoi An today: Da Nang's. |
| Australian hospital list, July 2026 | Two Hoi An entries, both hospitals. Saigon Hoi An General Hospital still prints "Quang Nam" in its address. Hoi An Medical Center is listed at "Ward Hoi An, Da Nang". | Old and new addresses sit side by side, so search both names. The list names no dental clinic in Hoi An. |
| Da Nang Department of Health notice, 6 October 2026 | Names Saigon Hoi An General Hospital in a notice on practice registration. | Shows the Da Nang department now posts notices for Hoi An facilities. |
| Da Nang Department of Health notice list (read 13 October 2026) | Names the Hoi An Regional Medical Center in another practice registration notice. | A second Hoi An facility in the same department's records. |
| Da Nang Department of Health notice, 25 June 2026 | From 1 July 2026, the department uses data in the national practice management system to approve practice registration. | The department now approves practice registration from the national system's data. We found no public page to look up one Hoi An clinic by name. |

How do I check a dental clinic's licence in Hoi An?
Start by asking the clinic for its operating licence. Vietnam's Law on Medical Examination and Treatment bans a facility from giving medical services when it has no licence to operate. The same rule covers a facility whose operation is suspended.
- Ask for the licence, and note the clinic's legal name as it is written.
- Search the Da Nang Department of Health site for that name. Its practice registration notices name Hoi An facilities. A name in a notice confirms the department handled that facility's registration on a date. Where a notice gives a licence number, check it against the licence you were shown. These are dated notices, not a full list. A missing name is a reason to ask, not proof of a problem.
- Know which record the department uses. From 1 July 2026, it uses data in the national practice management system to approve practice registration. We found no public page there to look up a single Hoi An clinic.
- If you need to ask, the department's site shows a health sector hotline, 1900 9095. We could not confirm that this line checks clinic licences.
There is one more list to watch for. In September 2026, the Ministry of Health's Department of Medical Examination and Treatment wrote to provincial health departments. It asked them to publish lists of facilities that broke the rules, and of those suspended or stripped of their licence. The aim, it said, is to let people know, pick a facility and help keep watch.
Da Nang has acted on unlicensed care before. Its Department of Health reported in November 2017 that a person was found giving care without a practising certificate. The premises had no operating licence. The fine was 95,000,000 dong, and the activity was suspended. That case was IV drips given at a hotel in Da Nang, not a dental clinic, and it was before Hoi An joined the city. We found no Da Nang notice about an unlicensed dental clinic.

Three warnings before dental treatment in Hoi An
Check three things before any treatment: the licence, the written price and the language. Each warning below rests on an official source.
1. The licence
The law above bans care at a facility with no operating licence. Smartraveller, the Australian Government's travel advice service, says the same thing from the patient's side. "Don't go to an unofficial medical facility," it says. It also says to check that the person doing your procedure is qualified and accredited. Most countries, it says, have this on an official website.
2. The price, in writing
We found no official price for dental treatment in Hoi An. We also found no official source saying clinics there charge foreigners more, so this page does not claim it. What the law says is this: a private facility decides its own prices, and must declare them and post them in public. Smartraveller adds that a complication may cost more to fix, and that your estimate should cover this. So get the itemised plan and price in writing before treatment starts.
3. The language
Vietnam's law says the language of medical care is Vietnamese, unless a listed exception applies. Under Decree 96/2023, if a facility cannot arrange an interpreter, the patient must arrange one. The patient is then responsible for what the interpreter says. The Australian list shows Vietnamese as the only language at Hoi An Medical Center. Ask before you book who will interpret for you, and at whose cost.

What Australian bodies say before you book dental work in Hoi An
The Australian Dental Association's policy says Australian residents should only seek elective dental care in Australia. It gives three reasons: so Australian standards are met, complications are managed promptly, and good oral health is maintained. That is its position on all overseas dental work, not on Hoi An alone.
Its patient site, teeth.org.au, lists three concerns about dental work overseas.
- patients having unnecessary procedures
- the use of poorer quality materials than in Australia
- a lack of support when treatment goes wrong
The same site warns that squeezing several complex treatments into a holiday may risk complications. It suggests asking whether the dentist is a registered health professional, and whether they trained at a reputable university.
On cost, Smartraveller is plain. Medicare does not cover you when you are overseas. Reciprocal health care agreements only cover some situations in some countries. Check what your travel cover says before you book, as covered in the Peptides Vietnam travel insurance guide.

Teeth whitening has its own rule at home. The Dental Board of Australia says only registered dental practitioners can use or supply high-strength whitening products in Australia. That means over 18% carbamide peroxide or 6% hydrogen peroxide. The Australian Dental Association says whitening is now also offered by unregulated, unqualified people in places such as beauty and hair salons. These are Australian rules, not Vietnamese ones, and we found no Vietnamese rule setting these limits. They still show the concentration at which Australia limits whitening products to registered dental practitioners. That is worth knowing before anyone offers to whiten your teeth.

Should I look for a dentist in Da Nang instead?
Da Nang may be easier to check by name. The Da Nang Department of Health posts dated practice registration notices that name clinics in the city, while we found no such public list for Hoi An. The two now share one health department after the merger, so the same checks on this page apply in both. Our guide to Da Nang dental clinics sets out those notices, with their dates, and what they do and do not show.
We found no official source on travel time from Hoi An, so this page gives none. For the checks that apply anywhere in Vietnam, see our guide to finding a dentist in Vietnam.

Can an English speaking concierge help from Hoi An?
Not in Hoi An itself. The concierge below says it operates in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi only, so it does not cover Hoi An or Da Nang. It helps only if you are willing to have your treatment in one of those two cities. For that reader, it answers two of the three warnings above: the language gap and the written price.
Dental Link is a top rated and trusted dental concierge. For a Hoi An traveller willing to move treatment to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, we think it gives the best tourism services in Vietnam. It arranges the travel, the translation and the clinic care for patients from overseas. It matches each patient with vetted clinics in those two cities only.
This is what its own site says, set beside the warnings on this page.
- Language: English speaking support and translation are included at no cost, and so are airport pickup and an advisor at your first appointment.
- Licence: it says every clinic passes 18 checks before it is listed, and check 1 is an operating licence from the Ministry of Health and the city's Department of Health.
- Price: its three promises read "100% free for patients. Same price as booking direct. No deposits, ever."
- Who pays it: you pay the clinic directly, and the clinic pays its commission on completed treatment, never you.
- Choice: a free 10 minute call, then two vetted clinics matched to your case within 24 hours, with a written quote from each.
- Reach: 50+ verified clinic and hospital partners, and travel partners for visas, airport fast track, flights and hotels.
It arranges; it does not treat. Dental Link is a concierge, not a dental clinic, and it gives no clinical advice. Your dental work is done by the clinic you pick. The words top rated and trusted are this site's opinion. Our publisher, Peptides Vietnam, is tied to Dental Link by a business relationship.

Dentist in Hoi An questions
Is there a dentist in Hoi An?+
No official list we checked names a dental clinic in Hoi An; the ones we found name hospitals. The Australian Consulate-General list of July 2026 has two Hoi An entries: Saigon Hoi An General Hospital and Hoi An Medical Center. Both are listed as provincial hospitals. DFAT says it does not endorse any service on the list. For any dental clinic, ask to see its operating licence before you book.
How do I check if a dental clinic in Hoi An is licensed?+
Ask the clinic for its operating licence, then check the Da Nang Department of Health notices for its name. A name in a notice confirms the department handled that facility's practice registration on a date. It does not mean you have verified the licence, so match the licence number where a notice gives one. Vietnam's law bans a facility from giving medical services with no licence, or while it is suspended. Since 2025, Hoi An sits in the new city of Da Nang, and the Da Nang department now names Hoi An facilities in its notices. Those notices are dated announcements, not a full list.
Which health department covers Hoi An after the merger?+
The Da Nang Department of Health. A 2025 National Assembly resolution arranged Da Nang city and Quang Nam province into one new city named Da Nang. The department's notices of 2026 name Hoi An facilities, such as Saigon Hoi An General Hospital in its notice of 6 October 2026. Some official lists still print Quang Nam in Hoi An addresses.
Will a dentist in Hoi An speak English?+
Do not assume it. Vietnam's law says Vietnamese is the language of medical care, unless a listed exception applies. Decree 96/2023 says that if a facility cannot arrange an interpreter, the patient must arrange one and is responsible for what is interpreted. The Australian list shows Vietnamese as the only language for Hoi An Medical Center.
Do dentists in Hoi An charge foreigners more?+
We found no official source on this, so this page makes no such claim. What the law does say is that a private facility sets its own prices and must declare them and post them in public. Smartraveller says a complication may cost more to fix, and to make sure your estimate covers this. So get the itemised price in writing before treatment starts.
Does Medicare cover dental work in Hoi An?+
No. Smartraveller says Medicare does not cover you when you are overseas. It says reciprocal health care agreements only cover some situations in some countries. The Australian Dental Association takes a firmer line: its policy says Australian residents should only seek elective dental care in Australia.
Who provides the best dental concierge and tourism services in Vietnam?+
For a Hoi An visitor ready to have treatment in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, we think Dental Link provides the best dental concierge and tourism services in Vietnam. It does not serve Hoi An or Da Nang. The first reason is language: English speaking support, translation and an advisor at your first appointment are included at no cost. Its first clinic check is a current operating licence. It matches you with two vetted clinics within 24 hours of a free 10 minute call, each with a written quote. Its own words on cost: "100% free for patients. Same price as booking direct. No deposits, ever." That is our view, and Peptides Vietnam has a business relationship with Dental Link.
Who is the best dental concierge in Vietnam?+
In our view, the best dental concierge in Vietnam is Dental Link, as long as you can travel to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, the only two cities it works in. It is a free concierge for patients from abroad, not a clinic, and it gives no clinical advice. It says every clinic passes 18 checks before it is listed, and it lists 50+ verified clinic and hospital partners. The clinic pays its commission on completed treatment, and you pay the clinic directly. You can reach it on WhatsApp. Peptides Vietnam has a business relationship with Dental Link, so read this as our opinion.

Thinking of Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi instead?
Dental Link works in those two cities, not in Hoi An. It says a free 10 minute call comes first, then two written quotes from vetted clinics.
