Hoi An Hospitals: Where to Get Care as a Visitor

Hoi An hospitals on the Australian government's July 2026 list are Saigon Hoi An General Hospital and Hoi An Medical Center. That list says the first has English and a 24 hour emergency service. The UK list, last updated in June 2022, has one Hoi An entry, Hoi An Pacific General Hospital, at the same street address as Saigon Hoi An General. The US Embassy list we read has no Hoi An entry. For an emergency anywhere in Vietnam, the US State Department says to dial 115. Hoi An is also now part of Da Nang city, so its addresses are written two ways.

Short answer

Which Hoi An hospitals do official lists name?
The Australian list (July 2026) names Saigon Hoi An General Hospital and Hoi An Medical Center. The UK list (June 2022) names Hoi An Pacific General Hospital. None of the lists ranks or endorses them.
Who has English and 24 hour emergency care?
On the Australian list, Saigon Hoi An General Hospital: English and Vietnamese, a 24 hour emergency service, and emergency number 1900 8686 30. Hoi An Medical Center is listed with Vietnamese only.
What number do you call?
115 for emergency medical services, says the US State Department. It also says a taxi or your own car to the nearest major hospital can be faster than waiting for an ambulance.
Why do addresses say Quang Nam or Da Nang?
Resolution 202/2025/QH15 merged Quang Nam province into a new city named Da Nang, with local government from 1 July 2025. Hoi An is now a ward of Da Nang. Some lists still print Quang Nam.

What do the US, UK and Australian lists say about Hoi An?

Two of the three lists name a Hoi An hospital, and they were written four years apart. Here is what each one prints, in its own words, with its date.

Australian Consulate-General list, July 2026

This list has no Hoi An heading. Its two Hoi An entries sit in its Da Nang section.

  • Saigon Hoi An General Hospital (Bệnh viện Đa khoa Sài Gòn Hội An). 6 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hoi An Ward, Quang Nam. Phone +84 235 392 1656. Languages: English, Vietnamese. Listed as a provincial hospital with a 24 hour emergency service. Emergency number 1900 8686 30.
  • Hoi An Medical Center (Trung Tam Y Te TP Hoi An). 04 Tran Hung Dao, Ward Hoi An, Da Nang. Phone +84 235 3861 364. Language: Vietnamese. Listed as a provincial hospital with a hotline, 1900 9095.

UK Foreign Office list, updated 24 June 2022

  • Hoi An Pacific General Hospital. 6 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hoi An, Quang Nam Province. Phone +84 (0)23 5392 1656. English speaking staff: limited. A private general hospital.

US Embassy and Consulate list, undated, read October 2026

We found no Hoi An entry. The list has a Da Nang City section. For what it names there, see our guide to Da Nang hospitals.

Each list comes with a warning. The Australian list says DFAT does not endorse any of the services on it and gives no guarantee that it is current. The UK list says it is not exhaustive and that none of the providers are endorsed or recommended by the FCDO. The US list says it is neither exclusive nor exhaustive, and the Embassy takes no responsibility for the people or places named.

So a name on a list is a starting point, not a quality mark. This page does not rank the hospitals and does not say which one to use.

Is Hoi An in Quang Nam or Da Nang now?

Hoi An is in Da Nang. In 2025, Quang Nam province and Da Nang city were merged into one city that keeps the name Da Nang.

The change came in two steps. First, Vietnam's National Assembly passed Resolution 202/2025/QH15 on provincial units. It put the whole area and people of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province into a new city named Da Nang. The government news portal says the resolution took effect on the day it passed, 12 June 2025. The new local governments were set to start work on 1 July 2025.

Second, a resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee, 1659/NQ-UBTVQH15, redrew the wards and communes of the new Da Nang. It joined Minh An, Cam Pho, Son Phong and Cam Nam wards and Cam Kim commune into one new ward, named Hoi An.

That is why a Hoi An hospital address can now end in "Hoi An Ward, Da Nang". Lists written or copied before the change still say "Quang Nam". The table below shows how each record prints it.

Hoi An hospital addresses, record by record

The same two street addresses show up in four entries, written three ways. We copied each address exactly as its record prints it.

How each record writes a Hoi An hospital address before and after the 2025 merger. Built by Peptides Vietnam from the UK FCDO list (updated 24 June 2022), the Australian DFAT list (July 2026) and the Hoi An Regional Medical Center contact page, read October 2026. Not a ranking. Rows that share a street are not merged.
Name in the recordRecord and dateAddress as printedHow it reads after the merger
Hoi An Pacific General HospitalUK FCDO list, updated 24 June 20226 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hoi An, Quang Nam ProvinceOld form. The list predates the 2025 merger.
Saigon Hoi An General HospitalAustralian list, July 20266 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hoi An Ward, Quang NamMixed form. It uses the new ward name with the old province name.
Hoi An Medical Center (Trung Tam Y Te TP Hoi An)Australian list, July 202604 Tran Hung Dao, Ward Hoi An, Da NangNew form. Ward of Hoi An, city of Da Nang.
Hoi An Regional Medical Center (Trung tâm Y tế khu vực Hội An)The unit’s own contact page, read October 202604 Trần Hưng Đạo, phường Hội An, TP Đà NẵngNew form, in Vietnamese. Same street address as the Australian entry above.

The 04 Tran Hung Dao unit has more than one name in official records. The Australian list calls it Hoi An Medical Center. The Da Nang Department of Health names Trung tâm Y tế khu vực Hội An in a practice registration notice. The unit's own contact page uses Hoi An Regional Medical Center, at 04 Tran Hung Dao, Hoi An Ward, Da Nang. We used that page only to confirm the name and address.

We found no official note that explains why the Australian list gives one Hoi An address with Da Nang and the other with Quang Nam.

Is Hoi An Pacific General Hospital the same as Saigon Hoi An General Hospital?

No source we found says so. The two names share a street address and phone digits, but no official record says one became the other.

The UK list of June 2022 gives Hoi An Pacific General Hospital at 6 Phan Dinh Phung Street, phone +84 (0)23 5392 1656. The Australian list of July 2026 gives Saigon Hoi An General Hospital at 6 Phan Dinh Phung Street, phone +84 235 392 1656. The Da Nang Department of Health's notice of 6 October 2026 uses the Saigon Hoi An name.

We looked for a renaming note on the UK list, the Australian list and the Da Nang Department of Health site, and did not find one. So this page keeps the two entries apart. They differ in other ways too: the UK list rates English as limited, while the Australian list gives English and Vietnamese.

Is there an English speaking hospital in Hoi An?

One Hoi An entry lists English: Saigon Hoi An General Hospital, on the Australian list of July 2026, with English and Vietnamese.

The other entries say less. The same Australian list gives Vietnamese only for Hoi An Medical Center. The UK list of June 2022 rates English speaking staff at Hoi An Pacific General Hospital as limited. None of the lists says how many staff speak English or on which shifts.

The US State Department gives a warning for the whole country. It says medical staff may speak little or no English. It also says that in public hospitals, generally only minimal staff are on duty overnight in non-emergency wards.

The Australian list's Da Nang section, the one that holds the Hoi An entries, also lists Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital with English, Vietnamese and a 24 hour emergency service. The list gives no distance or travel time between the two places.

Emergency numbers and 24 hour care in Hoi An

The national number is 115. The US State Department says to dial 115 for emergency medical services in Vietnam.

  • 115: emergency medical services, nationwide (US State Department).
  • 1900 8686 30: the emergency number the Australian list gives for Saigon Hoi An General Hospital, which it lists with a 24 hour emergency service.
  • 1900 9095: the hotline the Australian list gives for Hoi An Medical Center. The Da Nang Department of Health home page shows the same number as the hotline for the health sector.

Only one Hoi An entry is marked with a 24 hour emergency service: Saigon Hoi An General Hospital, on the Australian list. For Hoi An Medical Center it gives a hotline but no hours. We found no other official statement of a Hoi An hospital's hours.

The US State Department adds a note on getting there. It says injured or very ill travellers might prefer to take a taxi or their own car to the nearest major hospital, and that this can be faster than waiting for an ambulance. None of the advisories we read names Hoi An in its ambulance advice.

Do you have to leave Hoi An for hospital care?

No official source we read says which cases leave Hoi An, or where they go. None gives a distance or drive time from Hoi An to another hospital.

What the advisories do say is about Vietnam as a whole. Smartraveller says you may need medical evacuation to a major centre, even for minor operations. It does not name the centre. It also says that if you become seriously ill or injured, you may need to be evacuated to Bangkok or Singapore, and that medical evacuation can be very expensive.

The US State Department says health facilities are available in all major cities, and that adequate care may be hard to find in rural areas. Neither advisory says where Hoi An falls. The Australian list files Hoi An under its Da Nang heading, next to the Da Nang hospitals, but that is a heading, not a referral rule.

Paying for a hospital in Hoi An

The Australian government's Smartraveller says doctors and hospitals in Vietnam expect payment before they treat you, including in an emergency.

It adds that some hospitals may talk with your travel insurance company to secure payment, and others may need payment up front before they start treatment. That advice covers all of Vietnam. It does not name a Hoi An hospital.

The UK Foreign Office lists what UK travellers should make sure a policy covers: existing health conditions, an air ambulance in case you need to be flown home, full medical cover, and repatriation of remains. Our travel insurance for Vietnam guide sets out what each government says.

What a visit costs is a gap. We found no official price list for any Hoi An hospital. For what official sources say about hospital fees across the country, see our healthcare in Vietnam for foreigners guide.

Is any hospital in Hoi An JCI accredited?

We found none. The Joint Commission International directory for Vietnam had no entry in Hoi An, Quang Nam or Da Nang when we read it on 13 October 2026 and again on 14 October 2026.

The directory describes itself as the complete list of current JCI accredited organizations. A Vietnamese operating licence is a separate record, covered next.

How to check a Hoi An hospital or doctor

The Da Nang Department of Health now posts the notices that name Hoi An facilities. We found no separate Hoi An register.

  • The licence rule. The Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, Article 49, says a clinic or hospital may operate only after the competent authority has granted it an operating licence.
  • Practice registration notices. The Da Nang Department of Health posts notices on staff registered to practise at named facilities. Its notice of 6 October 2026 covers Saigon Hoi An General Hospital. Another notice on its site names Trung tâm Y tế khu vực Hội An.
  • The national system. The Department says that from 1 July 2026 it uses data in the national system at app.qlhanhnghekcb.gov.vn as the basis to approve practice registration. That site runs as a web app, and we could not confirm a public search on it.
  • The health sector hotline. The Department's home page shows 1900 9095.

This page names only hospitals that appear on government lists or Department of Health notices, each with its date, and makes no claim about quality.

What we could and could not confirm

This page was built from written records, read in October 2026. We did not visit a hospital in Hoi An. We could confirm:

  • The Hoi An entries on the Australian list (July 2026) and the UK list (updated 24 June 2022), with their disclaimers.
  • The merger of Quang Nam and Da Nang under Resolution 202/2025/QH15, and the new Hoi An ward under Resolution 1659/NQ-UBTVQH15.
  • The Da Nang Department of Health notices that name Hoi An facilities, its use of the national practice system from 1 July 2026, and its hotline.
  • The health advice of Smartraveller, the US State Department and the UK Foreign Office. The State Department page was read in a browser.

We could not confirm:

  • Any Hoi An entry on the US Embassy list. We found only a Da Nang City section.
  • Whether Hoi An Pacific General Hospital and Saigon Hoi An General Hospital are one hospital under two names.
  • Any official distance or travel time from Hoi An to another hospital, or any source naming a nearest larger centre.
  • A JCI accredited hospital in Hoi An. We found none in the directory.
  • A public licence search for Hoi An facilities, or official prices for Hoi An hospitals.
  • Opening hours for Hoi An Medical Center, and ambulance advice that names Hoi An.
