Da Nang Hospitals: Where Foreigners Go for Care (2026)

Da Nang hospitals named on the US, UK and Australian government lists include Vinmec Danang International Hospital, Hoan My Danang Hospital and Da Nang Family Medical Practice, which all three lists carry. The US and UK lists also name two hospitals on Quang Trung and Hai Phong streets, which the UK list marks as public. But the lists do not agree on every name and address. The UK and Australian governments say plainly they endorse no hospital on their lists, and the US Embassy says it takes no responsibility for the places it names. This guide shows each list's own line, side by side, so you can see where they differ before you go.

Short answer

Where do foreigners go for care in Da Nang?
All three foreign government lists we read name Vinmec, Hoan My and Family Medical Practice in Da Nang. The lists do not report where foreigners actually go for care. The US and UK lists also name two hospitals on Quang Trung and Hai Phong streets. No list ranks them or vouches for them.
Do the lists agree?
Not fully. Hoan My is at 291 Nguyen Van Linh on the US and Australian lists, and at 161 on the 2022 UK list. The public hospitals carry different names on each list.
Is any of them JCI accredited?
We found no Da Nang hospital in the JCI directory when we checked it on 13 October 2026.
What about emergencies and money?
Dial 115 for an ambulance. The US State Department says care is not free and hospitals often want payment up front.

Which hospitals do foreign governments list in Da Nang?

Three foreign governments publish a list for Da Nang: the US Embassy, the UK FCDO and Australia's DFAT. Each list is a contact list for its own citizens, not a ranking.

The lists are not all the same age, and one carries no date at all. The UK list was last updated on 24 June 2022. The Australian list is dated July 2026. The US Embassy page shows no date, and we read it on 14 October 2026.

Each list carries its own warning. The US Embassy says it assumes no responsibility for the ability or reputation of the places on its list, and that the list is neither exclusive nor exhaustive. The FCDO says none of the providers are endorsed or recommended by the FCDO. DFAT says it does not endorse any of the services, gives no guarantee that the list is current, and accepts no liability if you use them.

Da Nang entries on three foreign government lists, each shown as that list writes it. Built by Peptides Vietnam from the US Embassy Medical Assistance page (undated, read 14 October 2026), the UK FCDO list (updated 24 June 2022) and the Australian DFAT list (July 2026). Not a ranking. The Australian list's two Hoi An entries are covered further down.

Only the Australian list names a mental health hospital in Da Nang, the Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital. It notes Vietnamese and limited English there.

The city's own health department has a page for Bệnh viện Đà Nẵng at 103 Quang Trung. That page, posted in 2018, lists 1,250 beds. For how these hospitals fit into the wider system, see our guide to healthcare in Vietnam for foreigners.

Where the Da Nang lists disagree on names and addresses

The lists clash on one street number, two hospital names and the area names. We show each line as written and do not pick a winner, because no source we read settles it.

Conflicts between the Da Nang lists. Built by Peptides Vietnam from the US Embassy page (read 14 October 2026), the UK FCDO list (updated 24 June 2022), the Australian DFAT list (July 2026) and the Da Nang Department of Health unit page (posted 18 January 2018).

The public hospitals are the hardest to match. The US list has Danang General Hospital at 103 Quang Trung and Danang C Hospital at 122 Hai Phong. The UK list has General Hospital of Danang City at 103 Quang Trung and Da Nang General Hospital at 124 Hai Phong Street. So the name "Da Nang General Hospital" points to Quang Trung on one list and to Hai Phong Street on the other.

Because the lists differ, the name and street number are worth confirming with the hospital itself before you set out. Our table shows each line so you can see which list says what.

Are any Da Nang hospitals JCI accredited?

We found none. On 13 October 2026 we checked the Joint Commission International directory with the country set to Vietnam, and it listed no organisation in Da Nang.

The JCI page says it shows the complete list of current JCI-accredited organizations. It gives no total, so we give no count. The US CDC says, in general terms, that many foreign hospitals and clinics are accredited by JCI and that the list is on the JCI website. That line is not about Da Nang.

So this page calls no Da Nang hospital JCI accredited. The directory is the record we used, and we read it on one date. For JCI status in the two biggest cities, see our pages on hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and hospitals in Hanoi.

Do Da Nang hospitals have English speaking staff?

Some do, by the lists' own marks, but no list vouches for a single doctor. The UK list rates English speaking staff for each place. The Australian list names the languages each place uses.

  • UK FCDO (2022): "yes" at Family Medical Practice Da Nang; "some" at Vinmec, Hoan My and General Hospital of Danang City; "limited" at Da Nang General Hospital on Hai Phong Street.
  • Australia DFAT (July 2026): English and Vietnamese at Vinmec, Hoan My and Family Medical Practice; Vietnamese and limited English at Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital.
  • US Embassy: no language mark for Da Nang. It labels Family Medical Practice an international clinic and Hoan My a private international hospital.

Vietnamese rules cover the gap. Decree 96/2023 says that when a facility cannot arrange an interpreter, the patient must bring their own and is responsible for what the interpreter says.

Emergencies in Da Nang: 115 and 24 hour care

Dial 115 for an ambulance. The US Embassy lists Ambulance 115, Police 113 and Fire Brigade 114. The State Department and the FCDO both say to dial 115.

Ambulances may carry little equipment. The US State Department says ambulances, even in large cities, are not usually equipped with advanced medical gear. It says they often have little or no medical equipment and are generally not staffed with trained paramedics.

Only the Australian list notes round the clock emergency cover for Da Nang sites. It records a 24 hour emergency service at Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital and Hoan My Da Nang Hospital. It also gives a 24/7 emergency contact for Family Medical Practice Da Nang. The US Embassy list gives no hours for Da Nang, and the UK list has no hours column.

The FCDO also says to contact your insurer quickly if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment. The Da Nang Department of Health shows a health sector hotline, 1900 9095, on its home page.

One health note for the city itself: the US CDC says there is no malaria in the city of Da Nang. It lists malaria risk in Vietnam for rural areas only.

Do you pay up front at a Da Nang hospital?

Often, yes. The US State Department says hospitals and doctors often require payment up front, before service or admission. It also says medical care is not free in Vietnam, even in a public facility.

Australia's Smartraveller says the same in its own words. Doctors and hospitals expect payment before they treat you, including in an emergency. Some hospitals may talk with your travel insurer to secure payment. Others may need payment up front before they start. The State Department adds that public clinics may lack basic resources and supplies.

We found no Da Nang fee schedule. By law, a facility must post its service prices at the facility and on the national information system. Our healthcare guide covers the national price rules.

Serious cases may leave the city. Smartraveller says that if you become seriously ill or injured, you may need to be evacuated to Bangkok or Singapore, and that this can be very expensive. That advice is for all of Vietnam. We found no advisory that names Da Nang for evacuation.

The FCDO says a policy should cover existing health conditions, an air ambulance, full medical cover and repatriation of remains. See our guides to travel insurance for Vietnam and health insurance in Vietnam.

How to check a Da Nang hospital or doctor licence

We found no working public search for Da Nang. The rules and the city's notices still give you a route.

The law sets the bar. Under the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, a facility may only operate once it holds an operating licence. A practitioner must have a valid practice licence and must be registered to practise. The law also sorts public and private facilities into 3 professional levels.

Da Nang has moved its records to a national system. The Department of Health says that from 1 July 2026 it uses the practice data in the national system at app.qlhanhnghekcb.gov.vn as the basis to approve practice registration. When we opened that site in a browser, it loaded empty, so we could not confirm a public search.

The Department also posts notices. Its notice of 6 October 2026 says it posts lists of registered practitioners for medical facilities on its own website. Each notice names the facilities it covers.

The Ministry also wants rule breakers named. The Ministry of Health's Letter 1703 of 9 September 2026 asks departments of health to publish lists of facilities that broke the rules, were suspended or lost their licence, on the media and on the department's portal.

Ho Chi Minh City is different. Its health department runs a public lookup for practitioners, medical facilities and cosmetic facilities. We did not find the same for Da Nang.

Da Nang, Quang Nam and Hoi An: why the lists now overlap

Da Nang's 2026 health records now include Hoi An and places with Quang Nam names. The background is a merger of the province and the city, now enacted.

In April 2025, the Da Nang People's Council voted to approve the policy of merging Quang Nam province and Da Nang city into one city under the central government, named Da Nang. That vote was the proposal stage. The National Assembly then enacted the merger in Resolution 202/2025/QH15, which took effect on 12 June 2025, and the new local governments began operating on 1 July 2025.

The 2026 records show the overlap. The Da Nang Department of Health notice of 6 October 2026 covers Saigon Hoi An General Hospital, Vu Gia commune health station, the Da Nang City Rehabilitation Hospital and Quang Nam Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital. The July 2026 Australian list puts two Hoi An entries under its Da Nang heading.

Even that list is not consistent. It gives Hoi An Medical Center's address as Hoi An Ward, Da Nang, but Saigon Hoi An General Hospital's as Hoi An Ward, Quang Nam. We found no official note that explains the difference.

For the Hoi An side, see our guide to Hoi An hospitals. For an island trip further south, see Phu Quoc hospitals.

What we could and could not confirm

This page was built from written records, not from a visit to a hospital. We read every record in October 2026. The first list is what we could confirm.

  • The Da Nang entries on the US Embassy list (read in a browser), the UK FCDO list of June 2022 and the Australian DFAT list of July 2026.
  • The JCI directory for Vietnam, checked in a browser on 13 October 2026.
  • The Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in its 2026 consolidated text, and Decree 96/2023.
  • Da Nang Department of Health pages and notices of 2018, June 2026 and October 2026, and Ministry of Health Letter 1703.
  • The travel advice of the US State Department, the UK FCDO, Smartraveller and the US CDC.

The second list is what we could not confirm.

  • Which Hoan My address is right, and whether the differently named public hospitals on each list are the same places.
  • A working public licence search for Da Nang. The national system loaded empty in our browser.
  • A Da Nang fee schedule. We found only national price rules, which are on our healthcare guide.
  • General opening hours for the Da Nang hospitals. The Australian list notes a 24 hour emergency service at two of them and a 24/7 emergency contact at one clinic, which is emergency cover, not general hours.
  • Travel times from Da Nang to bigger centres. No advisory we read gives one.

We did not visit a hospital, pay a bill or speak to staff for this page. We name no doctor and rank no hospital.

Da Nang hospital questions

What is the international hospital in Da Nang?+

The US Embassy list names two: Vinmec Danang International Hospital, and Hoan My Danang Hospital, which it calls a private international hospital. It also lists Da Nang Family Medical Practice as an international clinic. The UK and Australian lists carry all three. The UK and Australia say plainly they endorse no hospital on their lists, and the US Embassy says it takes no responsibility for the places it names and that its list is neither exclusive nor exhaustive.

Which hospital in Da Nang has English speaking doctors?+

No official list vouches for any one doctor. The UK list, last updated in 2022, marks English speaking staff "yes" at Family Medical Practice Da Nang. It marks "some" at Vinmec, Hoan My and General Hospital of Danang City. It marks "limited" at Da Nang General Hospital on Hai Phong Street. The July 2026 Australian list gives English and Vietnamese for Vinmec, Hoan My and Family Medical Practice.

Is any Da Nang hospital JCI accredited?+

We found none. We checked the Joint Commission International list for Vietnam on 13 October 2026. It showed no site in Da Nang. So this page calls no Da Nang hospital JCI accredited.

What number do I call for an ambulance in Da Nang?+

Dial 115. The US Embassy, the US State Department and the UK FCDO all give 115 for an ambulance in Vietnam. The US Embassy also lists 113 for police and 114 for fire.

Which Da Nang hospitals are open 24 hours?+

Only the Australian list notes round the clock cover, and only for emergencies. Its July 2026 list shows a 24 hour emergency service at Vinmec and at Hoan My. It shows a 24/7 emergency contact for Family Medical Practice Da Nang. The US Embassy list gives no hours for Da Nang.

Do you have to pay before treatment at a Da Nang hospital?+

Often, yes. The US State Department says care is not free, even at public sites. It says hospitals and doctors often want payment up front. Smartraveller says they expect payment before they treat you, even in an emergency. It adds that some hospitals may talk with your travel insurer.

Where is Hoan My Hospital in Da Nang?+

The lists disagree. The US Embassy and the July 2026 Australian list give 291 Nguyen Van Linh. The UK list, last updated in 2022, gives 161 Nguyen Van Linh Street. Confirm the address with the hospital before you go.

How do I check a hospital licence in Da Nang?+

We found no working public search for Da Nang. By law, a site must hold an operating licence. The Da Nang health department says that from 1 July 2026 it uses the national system at app.qlhanhnghekcb.gov.vn to approve practice registration. It also posts lists of registered practitioners on its own website.
